Police Commissioner Provides Update on Belmopan Shooting

Investigators have ruled out the involvement of accused double murderer Robert J. Joseph’s son. Last week, Joseph and his son were at the Belmopan Market Plaza when Joseph opened fire on a family, killing a woman and a child, and injuring two other children.  The 59-year-old Haitian/American businessman allegedly had personal issues with the Dutch couple and alleged that they had tried to poison him and his son. Joseph has since been charged with the heinous crime, but there were speculations as to whether his son was involved. Today, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams revealed that the younger Joseph, David, was found free of any involvement in his father’s plot to kill the family.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “The gentleman’s son is in the US, he was wanted in the US and has been sent back to the US to face charges that he was wanted for out there. He was detained and he agreed to be taken back to the US.”

The incident unfolded on March 12 around three o’clock in the afternoon.
