Political Icon Winston Smiling Passes Away, PUP Mourns the Loss

The People’s United Party is mourning the death of political icon, Winston Smiling, who passed away over the weekend. In a release, the Party Leader, Party Chairman, and the National Executive of the People’s United Party offered their deepest condolences to Smiling’s family. The release states that “Winston, a lifelong supporter, and soldier of the PUP was, indeed, an outstanding Belizean and businessman who served his country in various capacities both in the public and private sectors. He was a close confidant and Aide, for over forty years, to his uncle, former Prime Minister, and Father of the Nation, George Price. He served, with distinction, as a Senator under both the Price and Musa Administrations. He also served as a board member, for many years, at the Belize Airports Authority. Winston also served the Party in various capacities as a member of the Party’s National Executive Committee and up to the time of his passing, as a member of the Order of Distinguished Service (ODS).”  Smiling was also thanked for his life of service to the country, the Party, and the people of Belize.
