President of Guyana Warns Climate Change Threatens Caribbean Survival

During his official state visit to Belize this week, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, used his address to national leaders to highlight climate change as one of the most urgent challenges facing the Caribbean, stressing that the issue goes beyond politics and national boundaries.  Dr. Ali told attendees that small states like those in the Caribbean remain among the most vulnerable to rising sea levels, extreme weather, and environmental degradation, and warned that regional cooperation is essential for survival and sustainable development.

The Guyanese leader emphasized that Caribbean nations must work together to develop climate-resilient economies, protect coastal communities, and strengthen environmental planning, noting that the consequences of inaction would directly affect future generations.
