Santa Familia Villagers Gain Internet Services through Government and UNDP Initiative

In some rural areas of Belize, the Internet is not easily accessible. Through the works of the Government of Belize and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), villagers of Santa Familia now have internet services. A new Digital Connect center was launched yesterday in the West and Michel Chebat, Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics, and E-Governance explained that change will improve businesses and enhance academic opportunities.

Michel Chebat,  Minister of Public Utilities, Logistics and E Governance: “The significance of this center extends far beyond providing internet access and technological resources. It symbolizes the power of connectivity, community engagement and collaborative efforts by nurturing a space where individuals can learn, explore and connect with the digital world we are unlocking the doors to boundless opportunities.”

This digital center is a steppingstone that will fill the gap in the digital divide amongst rural areas of Belize.
