Shooting in Dangriga

Shots rang out at Havana Southside Beach Bar (also known as Shine’s Bar) in the Havana area of Dangriga Town on Sunday night. Police were alerted and promptly arrived on the scene, where they observed a group of individuals leaving the area. Investigations revealed that Charles Bernardez, a 22-year-old Belizean customer service agent from the Monument Site area, was socializing with a female when he was approached by an individual who proceeded to argue with him. A fight broke out between the two men. Bernardez was then attacked by four other male individuals. As they were attacking him, a civilian pulled out a firearm and fired two shots into the air, causing the group of men to scatter. Bernardez felt a burning sensation in his back as he was running away, and upon touching his back, he realized he had been stabbed twice. He sought medical attention at Southern Regional Hospital and was treated .
