Shyne Barrow Faces Intense Social Media Pressure but Remains Resilient Amid Calls to Step Aside

With the pressures mounting and the intense bullying on social media, it begs the question as to why Barrow is yet to throw in the proverbial towel.  Barrow is a well-known rapper with royalties from his past music career and an upcoming documentary on his life.

Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “I made a choice when I got involved in politics and that choice was to create the Belize that would give opportunity to young people like you but to all people. Young women and men and all people that would give them the opportunities that I benefited from in the United States where I was able to make millions of dollars at the age of 18 and sell millions of records and here we are twenty six years later where a billion dollar corporation like Walt Disney is doing a documentary on my life and I can still generate significant revenues from my memoir and my movies and different things that will be coming out and merchandise. I want to create that for Belizeans. I want to create what I benefited from in the United States right here in Belize and I know I can do it. I know it can be done but it takes a combination of policy makers in the parliament as well the private sector. Philanthropists, and different stakeholders need to work together for the new Belize. We cannot continue with the colonial Belize. We cannot continue with our grandparent’s Belize from yesteryear forty three years ago. Every Belizean deserves the opportunity that Shyne has. I’m not one of those people that thinks I am special and what I’ve been able to accomplish no one can. I believe that every Belizean has a specialness to be unlocked but our parliamentarians have failed them in successive governments and I believe that policy making plays a major role.”

We will have more on the UDP’s political series in tomorrow’s newscast.
