Southern Belize Fisherfolk Receive Solar Kits to Improve Fishing Operations

One hundred fisherfolk from Southern Belize received solar kits to improve their daily lives while fishing for extended periods. On Monday, the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics, and E-governance handed over high-efficiency solar panels, batteries, and energy-efficient light bulbs to fishermen in the Stann Creek District. According to the ministry, the endeavor seeks to enable the fishermen to power essential equipment and enhance their operations with minimal environmental impact. Tony Nunez, a fisherman from Hopkins Village, spoke to Stann Creek Correspondent Harry Arzu about how the system will benefit him.

The ministry provided training and support to ensure recipients were equipped with the knowledge to use solar technology.
