Speaker of the House of Representatives, Valerie Woods, is in the Dominican Republic representing Belize at the 28 Extraordinary Meeting of the Forum of Presidents of Legislative Powers of Central America, the Caribbean Basin and Mexico (FOPREL). The meeting featured the significant ratifying and singing off of four Resolutions to tackle climate change in the region by all the Legislative Presidents in attendance. During the meeting, members discussed various climate change issues including the effects of climate change on human mobility: measures and strategies to respond to challenges; how to finance sustainable development, effects of climate change and recovery from the effects of COVID-19 in Latin America and the Caribbean; and the efforts of transforming agri-food systems to tackle the climate crisis in the region.
