Teenager Hospitalized After Hit and Run Road Traffic Incident in Western Belize

A teenager from Western Belize is in the hospital recovering after a road traffic incident on Friday night resulted in him losing a limb. Around 9 o’clock, 19-year-old Darron Zetina was traveling on a motorcycle on Bullet Tree Road toward San Ignacio Town when he collided with a vehicle that was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The Santa Familia Villager was flung to the pavement and sustained severe injuries to his left leg. The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene and Zetina was later rushed by the police to the hospital for medical attention. His father, Raul Zetina, spoke to Love News today and says the alleged hit and run has permanently altered his son’s life forever. 

Zetina added that since Friday, the police have not been in contact with him and notably, today, the police did not mention the incident in their press release.
