Two Men Arrested and Charged in Connection with Orel Leslie’s Murder

Two men are behind bars awaiting trial for the murder of businessman, 34-year-old, Orel Leslie.  The suspects, 25-year-old Elden Flowers, and 27-year-old Kareem Franklin, stand accused of fatally shooting Leslie in August while the businessman was heading home. As many as forty bullets were fired in the Belize City shooting from a nine-millimeter pistol and a forty-caliber weapon with an extended clip. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, says police had busted the men with one of the pistols but are yet to locate the other high-powered handgun.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “40 caliber pistol we have still not been able to locate that weapon. I know that the other weapon that was used in that particular murder was found with the accused persons immediately after the murder. Certainly they may have thrown the other one while they were running from the police and we were not able to find that one but our investigative team remains vigilant and if it should emerge somewhere later on, then we’ll see how we go from here.”

Leslie’s murder was believed to be gang-related.
