A woman who claims to be pregnant with twins is on remand at the Belize Central Prison tonight, pending a psychiatric evaluation. Thirty-nine-year-old Karina Lord appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today for an arraignment on three criminal charges. She was to face two counts of aggravated assault upon a police officer and one count of using insulting words. However, Lord did not appear to be in her right mind during the arraignment. The magistrate inquired if Lord was on any medication, and Lord yelled at the magistrate that she wasn’t taking anything because of her pregnancy. No plea was taken and Lord was remanded until September. She is accused of assaulting Police constables Nazira Avila and Devonie McLaughlin on July 16 at the Queen Street Police Station
