Immigration officer, Vanetta Kerr was on top of her game on Monday when she was able to detect a fake immigration visa presented in the passport of one Lazar Krivokapic. Krivokapic is from Montenegro, in southeastern Europe. He came in via the Philip Goldson International Airport on a Copa flight but was quickly detained when several discrepancies were cited on his visa. A senior immigration officer explained to Love News that there were red flags pertaining to the immigration stamp, the printing and several other details that did not align with the genuine visa document. As a result, the Police were called in to investigate the matter which led to the arrest of 49-year-old, Craig Elliott Martin Moore of Camalote Village, Cayo District. Moore, a Belizean/Jamaican was arrested after being fingered as the facilitator of the fraudulent visa. Initially, he was charged for the fabrication of a permit, but was brought back to court shortly after for an additional charge of aiding in the fabrication of an immigration offense. The bail and its conditions for the first charge were applied to the second charge, specifically, six thousand dollars plus two sureties of three thousand dollars each; the surrender of all travel documents; weekly check ins at the Belmopan Police Station and no unauthorized traveling outside Belize. Attorney Orson Elrington represented Moore and told the court reporter that his client maintains innocence.

Orson “OJ” Elrington, Attorney: “The police essentially are saying that there was a national from I cannot remember the name of the country and produced a false visa and on the premise of that false visa they have charged my client with the two aforementioned offenses. My client of course has maintained is innocence and he says that he merely…. he cannot speak of the authenticity of the document whether or not it is authentic or whether or not it is not authentic because he was merely a courier. He had no idea of what exactly and the documents were whatsoever.”
Love News understands that Krivokapic had previously applied for a visa but had been denied. He along with Moore were detained at the airport as Moore was there to pick up the Montenegrin national. Moore is scheduled to appear in the Belmopan’s Magistrates Court on April 4. Prosecution in the case is Alifa Elrington.
