Alleged crooked cops removed from La Isla Bonita

Reports reaching our newsroom were that a police officer was targeted by a gunman last night at the Police Barracks in San Pedro Town. We were additionally told that the matter was being classified as negligent discharge and that the officer was taken off the island this morning for his safety. Our newsroom sought confirmation from the Police Commissioner Chester Williams, but found out instead that two officers were taken off the island, not because they were targeted but because they are being accused of wrongdoings. Here’s how the Commissioner explained it.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I am not aware of any incident where shots were fired at the police barracks in San Pedro and I will have to communicate with the OC as soon as I’m done from here to see if that is true but I can tell you that I have directed yesterday in my commanders meeting that two officers be removed from San Pedro immediately and that is for various reasons I’m not going to divulge to the media but we do believe in order to maintain good administration in San Pedro it is imperative that these two officers be removed from the area and then they will be replaced by other officers. These are not high level officers, they are two corporals and we just want to ensure that the station is run in a way that is going to be conducive for all who work there to feel comfortable as well as the public to be able to feel comfortable coming to the police and lodge their complaints.”

Reporter: Without going into details were these officers involved in questionable activities ?

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “They do have certain allegations that we have not been able to prove and so in order to diffuse whatever these allegations are or whatever we decide that it is best that they be removed from San Pedro.”

The identity of the officers was not provided, but we did confirm that the duo holds the rank of Corporal.
