Armed Robbers Strike in San Ignacio Town, Five Men in Custody

Tonight, five men are behind bars after they allegedly orchestrated and carried out an armed robbery this morning in the Cayo District. Around 8:30, three armed bandits stormed into New PK Store in San Ignacio Town. The thieves held up the owner at gunpoint and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The ordeal was caught on camera and showed the masked culprits walking into the store and robbing its owners. The incident comes as the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, and his boss, Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa, are preparing to hold a community meeting in that municipality. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, says the meeting is in response to the increase in crime out west.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Some matters are being addressed that is the reason for that. Again we’ll get the details of that robbery as soon as it is sent to us. There are several policing efforts that are being done in that area. We had the recent shooting murder happened and again it was the assistance from the community that helped us to respond adequately.”
