Bank Account Freeze Delays Financial Aid for Belize Athletes Amid BAA Dispute

Local athletes may see a delay in financial assistance as an in-fight has led to some banking challenges for the Belize Athletic Association (BAA). According to the Secretary General, Kimberly Casimiro, the association’s Heritage Bank account has been frozen. Love News understands that the issue stems from early September when the President, Cojac Smith was unseated. The freezing comes at a time when the association is looking to provide financial assistance for the local athletes competing in the CADICA U13/U15 competition in Nicaragua at the end of the month. Casimiro says she has no idea how long this matter will take to be resolved but it is her hope that it would be before the month’s end.  Love News reached out to Heritage bank. They explained that they are not at liberty to release any information about BAA’s account.
