Belizean Athletes Shine in Copa Revolucion Track and Field Competition in Mexico
Seven Belizean athletes returned home with gold, silver and bronze yesterday after participating in the 7th annual Copa Revolucion Track and Field competition in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. In the 3-day event, Fred Usher Jr. captured gold in the 100m, the 200m and the long jump. Donovan Grinage Jr. earned gold in the 400m and in shot-put. He also scored silver in long jump, and bronze in javelin. Jalen O’Brien snagged silver in in the 400m. Kendall Morgan earned gold in the javelin toss, the 100m, 200m and the 400m and in the long jump. She also earned silver in the long jump. Jada Logan earned gold in the long jump, and bronze in 400m. Juan Portillo earned a silver in shotput. Gina Tejeda earned a gold in shotput and a silver in javelin. Organizer Frederick Usher Jr spoke to Love News on the experience in the competition.
Usher added that after the team members rest for two weeks, they will begin training for next year’s Belize athletic association national championships.
