A Pakistani national accused of wounding his wife and harming their one-year-old daughter during a domestic dispute last weekend walked free from all charges today after his wife requested that the court withdraw the case.  27-year-old, Hamaad Hamid, appeared before a Senior Magistrate in Court #5 where he was read a single charge of wounding and a separate charge of harm upon his daughter.  However, when the case was called, Hamid’s wife, Aaraf Farooq, took the stand and informed the court that after careful consideration, she did not wish to proceed with the charges against her husband.  The Senior Magistrate, upon hearing the victim’s request, ordered the charges against Hamid to be withdrawn.  This incident highlights the complexities of domestic violence cases and the challenges faced by victims in navigating the legal system.
