Love News has learned that complaints about an unfair election process are abound as it relates to the Belize Cycling Federation. An email from the federation to members says that the election will take place on November 26, a process which will see the election of a president, vice president, general secretary, treasurer and three committee members. Our information is that enough time for other slates to be formed. As we understand it, the slates must be declared at least two weeks before the election. Given that the election takes place on the 26th, candidates, who want to offer themselves up, cannot do so since the deadline has passed. One slate we’ve seen that will be opposing the current slate in power is that of Tyrique Cano who is running for president, has as his teammates, Giovanni Lovell for Vice President; Karen Vernon for Secretary; Troy Gabb, Jr. for Treasurer and executive members: city councilwoman, Kaya Cattouse, Zahir Figueroa and Yadira Argueta, a former Queen of the Bay.
