The triple murder case of former police corporal Elmer Nah, took an unexpected turn today as Nah fired his prominent attorney, Senior Counsel Godfrey Smith. Nah’s trial for the 2022 murders of John, David, and Vivian Ramnarace, was held virtually in the High Court this afternoon. During the proceedings Nah dropped the bombshell that he will be terminating Smith’s services, leaving Trinidadian attorney, Peter Taylor to represent him. Smith, who had appeared in person, quickly exited the courtroom, declining to give any comment. With the announcement, Justice Nigel Pilgrim adjourned the matter. The matter is now set for a Case Management Conference on March 13. We have made multiple attempts to contact Attorney Peter Taylor, who is currently back in Trinidad, but have yet to receive a response. We note that Peter Taylor is also the attorney representing William “Danny” Mason in his ongoing kidnapping case, which is set to begin trial in late April. Taylor who was only recently called to the bar in Belize, on January 30, is making his first appearance alongside Mason. Jon and his younger brother, David were shot and killed on December 31, 2022, and died that very night. Jon’s wife, Vivian died from the injuries she sustained about two weeks after what has been coined a triple hit. Elmer Nah has maintained that he is innocent, and has disputed the strength of the evidence police used to charge him. Nah has requested that the prosecution seek assistance from the United States through the US Embassy to have the video footage of the incident be enhanced, which he says will exonerate him.
