Patrick Faber, the elected representative for the Collet division, has come out swinging once again against the UDP’s Party Leader. In a discussion on The Morning Show today, Faber drew a comparison between Moses Shyne Barrow and the former leader, Dean Barrow. According to Faber, a member of the Alliance for Democracy, Shyne Barrow, has undertaken a heavy handed approach resembling somewhat of a dictatorship.

Patrick Faber, Area Representative, Collet: “In the case of the Honorable Shyne Barrow I am telling you that he cannot unify people in that manner and in fact he attempts to big stick people which is why there is so much…..and it’s not only a big sticking it’s also a kind of low, spiteful, vindictive nature that doesn’t allow you even if you had the greatest of intention to try to make things work it doesn’t allow you to do that. You are right when you make reference to Dean Barrow but Dean Barrow was a completely style leader in terms of getting members of the party on board. Getting people to see alright this is in our best interest, let’s do it this way. What do you think ? And we had the opportunity in the Cabinet room when we were government I mean, we had the opportunity in our meetings, you could pick up the phone call Dean Barrow when he was party leader and say “Prime Minister/ Party Leader I don’t agree with how we’re doing this, is there another way how we could do this ?” That kind of relationship existed. I am telling you no matter what you think in the UDP in all the years that I served there and in fact as you both gentlemen would know under Manuel Esquivel he had an even softer participatory style leadership and so it was even different even under his leadership it was different from what has come to us today.”
As the Alliance for Democracy looks unseat Shyne Barrow as the current party leader and the leader of the opposition, Faber explained what kind of support the alliance has garnered. He noted that with this support, the October 20 convention would undoubtedly see Barrow ousted from leadership.
Patrick Faber, Area Representative, Collet: “Suppose this P Diddy thing exposes Shyne to be involved in a whole lot of illegalities, and when I say that you see where the US has followed money and make pronouncements and so on on candidates or politicians in our country. What if the US was to make some kind of pronouncement based on his involvement in all of that ? Are we still supposed to go all th way rah rah rah. Or suppose he commits a crime ? Are we bound then to go all the way to after the election with the leader ? No. And that is why the framers of the constitution said that if the national convention membership deems for any reason it deems that the leader must be recalled it can be done at any time. So matters be damned what happened at Disney Birds Isle we have the right to call the convention and let me say that we have and it is on that basis the 208 people signed that petition for a recall, the 232 people before that signed the petition for a national convention it is on those two petitions it is on that footing which the chairman does not have a right to ignore. The chairman must listen to the National Party Council it is on that basis that we are pushing ahead with the convention on October 20th.”
