Former Prime Minister Dean Barrow speaks on joint statement with Former PM Said Musa on Middle East

Also registering concerns and consternation on the situation in the Middle East were the Right Honorable Said Musa and the Right Honorable Dean Barrow, Belize’s surviving former Prime Ministers.  It was an action where politics was placed one side to work for a common good.  Yesterday, Barrow and Musa condemned the deadly onslaught in the Gaza Strip and called for an immediate cease-fire. The men stated that while they acknowledge Hamas’ actions were wrong, they also recognized that it was born out of “Israel’s years-long blockade of Gaza, its displacement of Palestinians and seizure of their properties, its arbitrary arrest and imprisonment of citizens”. According to Barrow, it was a significant statement to show support against what he called a “genocide of Palestinians”.
