Kidnapping Charges for Repeat Offender Kareem Emory Hamilton, Denied Bail

Kareem Emory Hamilton has been identified as the man who lured a 5-year-old out of her front yard and tried taking her away.  The 37-year-old was brought to court today and was arraigned on the charge of kidnapping.  He was not granted bail and will spend some time at the Belize Central Prison.  Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero confirmed our previous report that Hamilton is not a first-time offender.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “An investigation was carried out. Persons, a sister in the area and a person was detained. After the investigation on Kareem Hamilton, 33 years, has been arrested and charged for the crime of kidnapping. He is known to police yes. He had an incident with a child before.”

The incident happened on Thursday, May 16 on Baracat Street in Belize City.  Quick response from the mother and neighbours was able to save the child from being taken away.  The child’s mother, Shany Pech, took her story to social media and the mainstream media, advising parents to be alert with their children.
