Man Charged with Assaulting Wife Ordered to Leave Home Until Case Resolved

A man charged for hitting his wife with her cellphone will have to find a new place to live until the matter is resolved in court. Thirty-six-year-old Marvis Espinosa appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, charged with a single count of aggravated assault. Espinosa told the court that his wife, a constable of police was outside the courtroom waiting to drop the charges. However, when court officers asked, she said she would proceed with the matter. Espinosa pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of one thousand, two hundred dollars, plus one surety of the same. He managed to meet his bail but was told that he could not come within 100 yards of his wife during the proceedings. He informed the court that he still lived in the same house with her, and that’s when he was told he would need to leave. Espinosa is due back in court on September 25.
