Minister of Human Development says disability bus BAPDA is requesting is at the mechanic

Minister Dolores Balderamos-Garcia also spoke on BAPDA’s demand for use of the bus that was donated last year for persons with disabilities.  She says that the bus is currently out of service.

Dolores Balderamos Garcia, Minister of Human Development, Families and Indigenous People’s Affairs: “It’s at the mechanic. And because there are some problems with the ramp and the lift. Now I have given instruction, that having come to my attention that if it is a difficulty that that particular mechanic cannot deal with we’ll have to move. We’ll have to move to somebody else that can fix the problem because we shouldn’t have the disability bus down for two to three weeks. So again I have to admit and lately I have said to the gathering this morning lately I’ve been full of apologies but it is because it is highlighted the needs that are there and I am not knowledgeable about the mechanics of having a lift to put a wheelchair into a bus and if there is a difficult there we have to find somebody who can.”

The demand for the disability bus comes on the heel of a mishap that occurred last weekend when the brakes failed on a bus they had chartered to travel to Roaring Creek.  At the time, some thirty persons were on the bus.
