Police Officer Faces Charges for Assaulting Wife in Dangriga

A police officer is facing criminal and internal charges after he assaulted his wife and left her stranded on the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway. In the wee hours of this morning, Police Constable Arnoldo Ical and his common-law-wife were socializing at an establishment in Dangriga Town when they began to argue. Details are scarce, but reports are that Ical became jealous after his wife spoke to another man, and demanded they leave the establishment. The pair then got into Ical’s vehicle, where he assaulted the woman and pushed her out of the moving car into the highway.  The woman was fortunate to get assistance from another driver, and escaped Ical’s fury.  Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero explained that Ical has been charged and is being placed on interdiction.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding, Eastern Division: “On Saturday the 13th day of April 2024 Rosa Bor* reported that she had a domestic dispute with her husband Arnaldo Ical. They got into a vehicle at some point along the highway Arnaldo Ical pushed her out of the vehicle and after he had punched her in the vehicle. An investigation was carried out. Arnaldo Ical has since been arrested and charged for the crimes of harm and threatening words.”

Notably, in 2021, Ical was charged for hitting his wife in the head with a glass bottle during a dispute. However, the charges were later withdrawn.
