Investigators in southern Belize are probing into the murder of Dangriga resident, Darren Taylor. The forty-three-year-old was gunned down at his home on Oak Street on Saturday night. Police say that just after seven-thirty, Taylor and another man were on his veranda when someone came from behind the house and opened fire. The attacker fired as many as seven shots, hitting Taylor in the face and upper body, killing him instantly. The person then ran off towards Magoon Street. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says Taylor was no stranger to police and explained that his killing is believed to be the result of a business deal gone wrong.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding, Eastern Division: “Information is that he was at the veranda of his house when a male person came and fired shots towards him. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. We are seeking one suspect in regards to this murder. He had several matters in the courts as well as outside of the courts that he was dealing with so we’re looking at all of those. Information we have is it is over business dealings that is the information we are following up on.”

Officers also found a bullet hole in the right passenger window of Taylor’s vehicle which was parked in front of his house.
