PUP Supporter Anthony Lewis Calls for More Community Engagement from Belmopan Politicians

On the political front, Anthony Lewis, the PUP supporter who wanted to go to a convention against Oscar Mira has spoken out on what he feels are the issues being faced in Belmopan.  Lewis says while he supports the People’s United Party, he feels that they need to come out of their plush offices more often to hear from the residents.

Anthony Lewis, BMP PUP Aspirant: “As a PUP your oath is to serve in your party and support. But also, you always have to bear in mind that as much as you might want to support a person, or in my case, to support Mira he has abandoned our area. So he needs to, it’s on both sides. We need to, he needs to reach out to me. And just as I would want to reach out to him and try to fix the problem that he has caused in Belmopan. Is it easy? I don’t think so because when you are away from your constituents for so long from 2020 up to 2024 there is nothing much you can say to a voter or to your resident to put you back, elect you back. That would be the hardest thing to do. So when you’re in power you have to be inclusive of your entire constituency not apart.”

Lewis application for standard bearer was rejected by the PUP’s National Executive last week.
