Senior Citizen Accused of Sexual Assault Released on Bail

A senior Citizen is out on bail after being accused of sexually assaulting a teenager in Belize City. A 19-year-old female reported to police that, on Sunday, 65-year-old Wayne Edward Jones intentionally grabbed her leg without her consent. Yesterday, Jones, who was unrepresented, appeared in the Magistrate’s court and was read a single charge of sexual assault. The elderly man pleaded not guilty and was offered bail in the sum of $2,000 plus one surety of the same amount. He was unable to meet bail and remanded to prison. However, fortunately for him, his family came up with the money today, and he was granted bail. Jones returns to court on September 28.
