Woman Gives Birth on Bus Ride to Dangriga

Earlier today, what was to be a regular bus ride turned out to be one of mixed emotions as a woman onboard went into labour.  It is not a story you hear every day, and one that those on the bus will not forget anytime soon. 22-year-old, Markeisha McKenzie was on the bus to Dangriga when her contractions began and her water broke.  There, in her bus seat, the Independence villager was forced to give birth with nothing but a towel and sheer determination. One passenger explained to Love News that shortly after boarding the bus in Hopkins Village, McKenzie began experiencing labor pains and her water broke. She informed the bus driver, prompting him to assist her by rushing her to the Southern Regional Hospital, where doctors awaited her and her bouncing baby. The passenger shared her experience with us, highlighting the resilience of women and the incredible power of the human spirit.

We are happy to report that McKenzie is in good health and so is her baby boy.  He was born weighing five pounds nine ounces.
