Police have detained one suspect and are seeking two more in connection with the fatal shooting of twenty-six-year-old Steve Moss. Moss was gunned down by two men on Caesar Ridge Road around two in the afternoon. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams spoke to the media today and explained that officers managed to locate the vehicle that was used in the shooting moments after it happened. The engine was reportedly still running when the vehicle was found. Here is his update on the investigation.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Yesterday afternoon, sometime after 2pm thereabout police received information of shots fired on Caesar Ridge Road t0hat’s off Queen Charlotte. And based on that they responded where the lifeless body of Steve Moss was found with what appeared to be gunshot injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police investigation so far revealed that Moss was riding a bicycle on Caesar Ridge in the area of Bismarck Club when he was approached by a group of men in a Land Rover Range Rover. Two persons alighted that vehicle and opened fire at Moss causing his fatal injury. Police response quickly led to the location of the vehicle here on Amara Avenue but the suspects had fled the vehicle at that particular moment. We have conducted a number of interviews within the area and have gathered some very useful information and at this time we do have one suspect in custody and are seeking two other persons in respect to that particular matter. The Range Rover was from a rental. It was rented the day before. We also have the person in custody who rented that vehicle and he is also a part of our investigation.”
Commissioner Williams added that police are looking at several angles for the possible motive of the shooting. He said that it could have been in retaliation for a recent shooting or for one from years prior. The investigation continues.
