Police have laid another charge in connection with the murder of Mark Anthony Gabourel, which occurred on Wednesday, January 7. Today, police formally arrested and charged 28-year-old Tyron Castro, a Belizean call center agent, for the crime of Abetment to Murder in relation to Gabourel’s killing. The charge follows earlier arrests in the case. On January 9, police announced that 25-year-old Wilhem Lansbort Coye was detained and later charged in connection with the incident, which occurred in Belmopan and was initially described by police as an attempted robbery. Investigators say extensive surveillance footage from more than two dozen cameras in the area provided critical leads that helped identify the suspects. Days later, on January 13, police formally charged 29-year-old Shaylon Melvin Santos, a Belizean construction worker of Teakettle Village, Cayo District, with the crime of Murder, making him the second person charged at that time. Castro is expected to be brought before the court to answer to the charge, while police have not indicated whether further arrests are anticipated at this time.
