LPG Price Increase Hits Belizean Consumers due to Rise in Butane and Propane Costs

As of today, Belizean consumers will be paying more for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The Supplies Control Unit (SCU) in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise announced that effective August 11, LPG would cost an additional forty cents per gallon. The price increase affects LPG at both the wholesale and retail levels, in all urban and rural areas. The new import wholesale price is set at three dollars and seventy-one cents per gallon. In urban areas, the new price per pound is a dollar and twenty-one cents, while the new price per gallon is five dollars and thirty-one cents. In rural areas, the new price per pound is a dollar and twenty-four cents, while the new price per gallon is five dollars and forty-one cents. The Supplies Control Unit says that the increase is primarily due to an increase in the acquisition price of both butane and propane.
