Prime Minister Clarifies Miscommunication on Wildfire Relief Fund

As a clarification to the dollar figures mentioned in the last House Meeting, Prime Minister John Briceno was sure to clarify that the total being initially assigned to the wildfire relief fund.  In one instance, Minister Andre Perez had mentioned five hundred thousand dollars, and in another instance the sum of one million dollars was announced by the Prime Minister.  According to Briceno, it boiled down to a simple miscommunication.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “And just for an issue of maybe miscommunication in the sense that in the House, the minister spoke about $500,000 that we were going to assist NEMO with and then I mentioned $1 million. Both of us were right. He was right because he was talking about $500,000 directly for humanitarian aid. I was talking $1 million was going to NEMO for not only that but also we’re spending $500,000 for that and $500,000 to be able to repair a lot of the hurricane shelters. So we did approve a million dollars. So I just wanted to clarify that.”
